The Ultimate Display

Simulation



The work-in-progress "Ultimate Display" revolves around the theme of seeing in the age of simulation. It draws on considerations of the phenomenological ruptures and perceptual disturbances caused by synthetic image technologies and their idiosyncratic glitch artifacts. The specific technical setup of this project involves a simulated environment where real-time video data from the environment is modified by a generative AI model and fed back into VR. The glitch serves as both an aesthetic and a semantically significant element. Tensorflow, an ESP32 microcontroller, and the Unity Engine are used.
